Perth based artist Sheree Barber has a bachelor's degree in visual art and has been lucky enough to travel the world and live in Japan when she was younger. Over the years the travelling experience has developed Sheree's passion for human rights and activism, which reflects in her art process from time to time. At age 33, Sheree encountered a life-threatening illness which had a long recovery. Art has been a catalyst for Sheree's healing process which started out as small drawings and has eventuated into multiple large images and paintings.
Sheree's entire body of work is about exploring the complexity of human emotions and conditions and how it plays out in our culture. What comes from this are a bold array of abstract figurative images with expressive line work and bold colours.
Sheree combines traditional art practices with digital technology: animation and digital media to help capture and produce artwork that speaks about the human condition.
